Fifteen 6th formers took part in a Charity Fashion show at the
Guildhall, London on Saturday 30th January 2010. The "East Meets West" fashion extravaganza was a raising funds for the
Bobby Moore Fund (Cancer Charity). The 6th formers wore dresses which they had designed and made as part of their A level Art and Design Textiles course. The St Mary's section of the catwalk show was called 'Here come the Girls'. The 6th formers had been practising their show at school and then spent all day Saturday rehearsing and helping out backstage, before taking part in the show in the evening. Several of our students were invited to model in the other shows, including 'All that Jazz' and the 'International Collection'. The event was an excellent opportunity to experience all the planning and organisation involved in putting on a high profile event.
Stars at the show included Dave 'the Kid' Jensen (the voice of Capital Gold and Planet Rock), Hardeep Singh Kholi (writer, comedian and presenter) and Matthew Wright, all of whom compered the show. Tyler Rix the talented young saxophonist, and Meliz Serman, mezzo soprano, also performed.
