The Good Schools Guide raved about our Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme programme and yesterday it was easy to see why. Sixth Formers and younger students were preparing to travel to the Peak District to do their Silver and Gold Award expeditions. Four days of camping, walking and exploring lie ahead. We'll bring you the photographic evidence as soon as they're back.

中秋节快乐!
Happy Mid-Autumn Festival everyone! Sadly this photo doesn't show St Mary's but a Mid-Autumn Festival celebration in Singapore. Nonetheless, we will be celebrating the festival in our own way and wish all our Chinese readers a very happy weekend of celebrations.

Upper 6th Parents Evening
It's the Upper 6th parents evening today from 6pm onwards. We look forward to meeting parents, guardians and students to discuss progress so far in the Upper 6th. In the meantime a few of us are taking some of the younger students to Sutton Hoo. Traffic permitting, we'll be back and raring to go at 6pm.

A Tour of Cambridge
Another of the boarders' trips was much closer to home. They took over one of the open-top sightseeing buses and got to grips with some of the sights and sounds of our glorious city. The river, the punts and the Bridge of Sighs were major attractions, of course.
But they also went further afield, to the American Military Cemetery at Madingley, for instance.
A great time was had by all.

Almost Seeing the Queen
The boarders have been on some interesting trips in the first few weeks of term. Here are some of them outside Buckingham Palace. Sadly they didn't meet the queen and, even more sadly, they weren't allowed to take photos inside the palace but they made up for it with lots of snaps outside.

Subject Profile: Geography
The Lower Sixth Geographers headed off to the North Norfolk coast this weekend to enjoy the late summer sunshine and to do some coursework. It's an idyllic part of the world and a perfect place to get to grips with coastal geography.
While the Lower 6th were busy working some of the local wildlife was just lying around, wondering what all the fuss was about.
Those seals have a pretty good life but they do miss out on ice cream.
